ArmA 3 ist eine Militärsimulation die in der nahen Zukunft angesiedelt ist. Der Spieler kann zwischen einer großen Hauptkarte und einer kleineren Karte wählen. In ArmA 3 sind es die zwei griechischen Inseln Altis (ursprüngliches Vorbild: Lemnos) und Stratis (nach dem Vorbild von Agios Efstratios). Mit dem APEX-Update ist die Tropeninsel Tanoa mit einer asiatischen Fraktion hinzugekommen.
